The Powell Music Studio offers VIOLIN lessons in

Barrie, Ontario by award winning teacher Sherrie Powell.

Sherrie has been a dedicated VIOLIN teacher for many

years, and has been the recipient of personal awards for her violin playing. She studied performance violin at the University of Toronto and is currently a sought after violin session player in the recording industry.

THE VIOLIN

One of the most popular of all instruments, the violin is the soprano member of the string family, and more solo works have been written for it than for any other instrument except the piano. The violin and it's relatives - viola, cello and double bass are the backbone of the symphony orchestra. The violinist must have a keen sense of pitch as there are no frets to guide the fingers. The sounds that can be made by 4 fingers and a bow on 4 strings have not been exhausted.
